Phil Cordell serves as Global Head, Focused Service Brands and Senior Vice President-Hampton Brand Management for Hilton Hotels Corporation, the internationally recognized preeminent hospitality company. Cordell joined Holiday Inn hotels in 1983, serving in a variety of hotel level management positions. He then joined the Hampton Inn division, where he opened the second Hampton Inn as General Manager. Cordell also worked as an Area Director with company owned-managed Hampton Inns, where he was heavily involved in pre-opening recruitment, hiring, training, sales and operations for many hotels in the system. In the early 1990's Cordell joined the corporate team as Vice President of Franchise Operations and subsequently as Vice President of Hotel Performance Support. In these roles, he lead the development of many of the tools, resources, programs and training that now form the franchise support structure for a large number of Hilton's hotels.
As Senior Vice President-Brand Management, Cordell leads a multidisciplinary team responsible for brand performance and setting the overall vision and direction of Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites hotels, numbering more than 1,600 today. The brand management team focuses on: ensuring core product and services meet and exceed expectations; positioning the brand with the right consumers; providing tools (marketing, advertising, public relations) to enhance hotel level performance; and providing direction for the overall distribution of the brand.
Cordell has received numerous leadership awards for his contributions to the hospitality industry. Among them was Promus's Chairman Award for Leadership. The award recognises Cordell for his role in the growth and development of team members in the debut of the Hampton brand.
